Just a little more.......
'Capturing the moment' as opposed to creating the moment is what I am about.
As a press photojournalist I have covered a multitude of events from smiling politicians, through sudden death and personal tragedy to riots.
Press photographers soon become a kind of 'jack of all trades', we have to supply portraits at the drop of a hat using available lighting and just an on-camera flash. Unlike of course the studio based photographer. No politician, royal or for that matter 'celeb' wants to sit around and waste their time whilst we adjust our settings, so we become quick and accurate. This shows itself out on the streets and at events where the 'action' is moving fast.
I have taken the style and speed of the press photographer and put it into the public realm.
There is always a place for the formal photograph but when those are done I feel that I add the variety which makes a project even more interesting.
